What is DHEA? Why would I need to use DHEA ?

DHEA short for dehydroepiandrosterone. DHEA is the most abundant compound, or prohormone, we use to produce hormones. It is a basic building block or precursor to most of the hormones we produce. DHEA itself is produced by the adrenal glands, reproductive organs, and the skin. In fact, recent research shows most DHEA (88%) is actually metabolized in the skin.

Interestingly, for postmenopausal women more than 80 % of hormones are made in the skin?

Twist 25 DHEA cream is a highly absorbable bioidentical DHEA cream that provides DHEA the right way, on the skin where it occurs naturally anyway. That’s why DHEA absorbed in the skin does so much good. It’s what the body makes and uses naturally applied where the body makes and uses it naturally. That is why it does so many good things for the body you can feel and notice.

Why?

After humans are born increasing amounts of DHEA are produced until about age 25. Then we begin to make about 2% less per year. So by age 35 whether male or female, we make about 20% less than when we were “in our prime” or at our best. By age 50, the body is only making half as much DHEA as when we were at our best; by age 65-70 DHEA levels are just 10-20 % of what they were when we were 25; and by age 80 levels drop to only 5% or less of the DHEA levels we had at 25.

Since DHEA is a base building block for the hormones we make, especially androgens, and these are what give us our drive, energy levels, mood and physical characteristics; by age 35 to 50 energy levels and physical prowess decline – such as muscle tone, energy levels, sex drive, mood, and ability to cope with stress. These reductions in fitness and energy level are commonly experienced signs of “slowing down” or “growing old”.  But  IT DOESN”T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY

… use Twist 25 DHEA cream to naturally maintain youthful vigor.

Who should use a DHEA ? What are the Benefits?

Research shows that the level of DHEA is an excellent predictor not only of age-related health problems but also of aging itself as defined by energy levels, mood, quality of life, and many diseases.  Higher levels of DHEA are strongly associated with good health while lower levels are associated with numerous diseases.

Low levels of DHEA are associated with increased risk of death from all causes, for example low DHEA levels are associated with an increased risk of mortality from cardiovascular disease and cancer. Low levels of DHEA are also associated with adult diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease, asthma, obesity, depression, dementia, osteoporosis, and lupus to name but some.

Leading endocrinologists indicate that optimal anti-aging can be achieved by maintaining DHEA levels at the levels of a 25-30 year old person in combination with an active lifestyle and healthy diet.

There is no medical research that associates DHEA supplementation with any dangerous side effects.

People over age 35 using Twist 25 DHEA cream report they have more energy, handle stress more easily, think more clearly, and generally feel better. Other benefits include stronger resistance to colds and flu, feeling leaner and fitter, having softer skin, more sex drive, and sleeping better at night.

Research shows that DHEA:

·       Improves energy, vitality, mood, and mental sharpness

·       Helps reduce abdominal fat and improve muscle tone

·       Is associated with improved vascular health

·       Supports immune system and protects against many types of cancer

·       Helps maintain bone density

·       Softer smoother more hydrated skin and fading of age spots

·       Enhances sex drive

·       Allows better sleep at night

What is the best way to use DHEA?

If taken as an oral supplement, most DHEA is quickly eliminated by the “first-pass effect” of the liver. As a consequence, oral DHEA supplements are minimally effective in yielding any noticeable benefits for the user.

What does increase in the bloodstream from oral DHEA supplements is DHEA-S (DHEA sulfate).  It was believed for many years that the body could convert DHEA-S into free DHEA as needed.  DHEA-S has a fairly stable level so DHEA-S is what most laboratories do to test “DHEA level” when such a test is ordered by a physician.   This is why so many of the studies done in the past showed minimal benefits to DHEA supplement use. Most of these inconclusive studies were done with oral DHEA supplements, and testing of levels of DHEA-S rather than free DHEA.

However, a very important medical research study done by Dr. Fabian Hammer, Dr. Sandra Subtil, Dr. Philipp Lux, Dr. Christiane Maser-Gluth, et al was published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism March 8, 2005 entitled “No Evidence for Hepatic Conversion of Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) Sulfate to DHEA: In Vivo and in Vitro Studies” The title of the article describes well what was shown.  Basically, DHEA-S cannot be converted into DHEA.  DHEA can be converted into DHEA-S, but not the other way around.  That is why oral DHEA supplements to not have much of a noticeable effect.

So, the best way to use DHEA is as a properly engineered bioidentical cream applied on thin hairless skin.  Since DHEA is a basic building block for hormones, it must be provided to the body on the dermis (the skin) where it occurs naturally anyway; and if it is provided on the dermis each day over time supplementation begins to provide noticeable benefits. Because we process a lot of the DHEA in the skin; it makes sense that the best way to use DHEA would be as an absorbable skin cream that puts the DHEA where we use it naturally- the skin. That is why Twist 25 DHEA supplement cream was developed.

A small squirt of Twist 25 rubbed in each day (morning and evening is best) can help stave off many of the unpleasant effects of declining hormones as we age.

Twist 25 DHEA cream - Suggested Use: Apply 1-2 pump presses morning and evening each day.  Rub in completely between inner arm and abdomen.

The cream is best absorbed when applied to thin hairless skin.  It is very good for the skin because DHEA is also a base for sebum, skin oil.  DHEA has also been shown to protect skin cells from both Ultraviolet (UV) and chemical carcinogens.

For people 35 and up, male or female, Twist 25 DHEA cream is the right way to help you continue to look your best and feel your best. Medical research shows that higher levels of DHEA are associated good health while lower levels of DHEA are associated with numerous diseases. With strong DHEA levels many measures for quality of life can be improved – energy levels, mental clarity, muscle tone, sexual desire, reduced risk of heart disease, reduced risk of cancer, reduced abdominal fat, enhanced immune response, better sleep, better skin, better bone strength, and more.

Does DHEA have any Dangerous Side-Effects?

No. Twist 25 DHEA cream has been tested for irritation studies in human tests and showed no sensitivities or irritations. There are no dangerous side effects from using Twist 25 DHEA supplement cream. It often increases sex drive and if over applied may cause occasional skin blemishes. On rare occasions faster hair growth is noticed from the small boost in intracellular testosterone. If either of these rare side effects do occur and are unwanted simply reduce the amount of cream applied or discontinue use and these side effects subside.

Considering the many fantastic positive effects of using Twist 25 DHEA cream, the slight possibility of these rare potential temporary side effects are of little concern.

The only precaution of note would be that if one has been diagnosed with a hormone sensitive cancer one would not want to increase hormone levels by using a DHEA supplement. However, it has been shown by medical research that if DHEA levels are maintained, the risk of developing cancer is actually reduced, while low DHEA levels are associated with a greater risk of cancer. So, ask your physician before using Twist 25 DHEA cream or any other health products.
